Loreal came back with 4 NEW shades in their Colour Riche Balm line. These 4 shades are called the Balm POP. As the name suggests, all 4 shades are very vibrant and bright, it’ll catch your eye right away. And here’s a detailed review and swatches of different shades of the Balm Pop:
I purchased Bold Blush, Fiery Red, and Electric Pink, but not Wild Lily. The Wild Lily is a vibrant hot pink. (NOTE: If you have a warmer skin-tone, you need to be careful with pinks, especially the hot pink shades, because it might not match your skin tone and it could make your skin-tone to look dimmer or dull. I have a yellow/warm skin-tone, so Wild Lily did not match with my skin very well.)
Besides the Wild Lily, all the other shades seemed suitable for most skin tones. For better understanding, I did swatches of each shades on both a white paper and on my arm. On a white piece of paper, there wasn’t much difference observed between Bold Blush and Fiery Red which was unexpected, because Fiery Red seemed bright red white Bold Blush is more of a dimmer shade of pink.
But the difference was observed more clearly when I swatched them on my arm. The left stroke of each shades is after a single swatch. The right one is after 2-3 swatches. Considering that it’s a lip balm, it’s well pigmented, but compare to lipsticks with the same shades, these balms are slightly more sheer. With about 2-3 swatches, you’ll be able to get the full effect. Fiery Red is a good, bright red color, which is great for adding some accent on your lip makeup with light/natural eye makeup. Bold Blush is one or a couple shades darker/dimmer than the typical pink, which matches with any makeup styles – from smoky to natural – and various occasions – formal to casual. Electric Pink is my personal favorite. This color is a beautiful pink with red undertone. Therefore, it matches with any skin tone and brightens up your skin tone, and various types of makeup. This color is perfect for everyday use.
Also, its buttery texture makes it glide gently even on dry lips without rubbing off a lot of dry skin cells. It’s hydrating and moisturizing, and it claims to hydrate for a full 8 hours. I find it less hydrating/moisturizing compared to Baby Lips. If you have pretty dry lips, I’d say it keeps your lips hydrated for about a good one hour – 1.5 hours; it might be little longer if your lips aren’t too dry. If you have dry lips, prep/moisturize your lips with another lip product before you apply this on your lips. I does have little vanilla/vanilla cake scent. It’s really not too strong or noticeable, but if you are sensitive to scents, check the scent before you purchase it.
The NEW Balm Pops are better than what I expected. Each shade was very pretty. Though the colors are vibrant, they are very useful and versatile. But, these aren’t great at keeping your lips moisturized or hydrated for a long time. If your lips tend to get dry easily, be sure to generously moisturize your lips before or after you apply this product.
