Since we are slowly approaching party season, I bet many of you are in the hunt for great waterproof and long lasting make up products. Today, I’ll do a quick review of Urban Decay’s 24/7 waterproof liquid eyeliners.
I got the shade Demolition and Retrograde in May when they were on sale in Sephora. The original price was $18, but I got them for only $10!
First, Demolition.
Demolition is a dark, chocolate-like matte brown. It’s perfect for daily use and goes well with any type of makeup look. I use it when I want to create softer and more natural looking lines in contrast to harsh black lines.
Next, Retrograde.
Retrograde is a purple shade with gorgeous purple shimmers. Because of the shimmers, it looks somewhat metallic from some angles. The shimmers are so pretty, it’s perfect for lightly accenting the ends of the eyes.
The brush tip was thin enough for drawing thin and precise eyelines. I generally use liquid liners with a felt tip, so it took me a while to get used to the brush tip. (In general, I find that brush tips are a bit harder to control than felt tip liners.)
Though the brush was very thin, it was sturdy enough to control easily. Compared to ELF liquid liners (Link to the review: ELF – Liquid Eyeliner ), these definitely have a much higher quality brush and ink (pigmentation).
One important thing to remember is that you SHOULD SHAKE THE PRODUCTS before applying!! By doing that, the ink mixes well. If you don’t shake it before using, you might get very watery and not very pigmented lines like the ones on the right in the picture below.
In this picture, the ones on the left is Demolition and the ones on the right is Retrograde.
As you can see, Demolition is a deep, chocolaty brown that’s on the border between brown and black.
As I mentioned earlier, Retrograde looks much more watery because I did not shake beforehand.
If you shake them enough, you’ll get color payoffs like in the picture the below.
In general, I draw thicker lines when using gel or pencil liners. But when using liquid liners, I usually draw a very thin line, just enough to enhance and emphasize the eye shape. So I use these eyeliners, which are great at drawing thin lines.
Overall, I thought this was a good enough product for daily use.
What’s your favorite liquid liner?
I have been really enjoying the Stilla one!
Nice! I’ll try that one soon!
I love brush tip liner! Lucky you got these on sale 🙂
Great piece thanks – I like the Stila liner but will definitely try these out
I’ve been using the Stilla felt tip eyeliner. Jury is out…not sure I like it yet.
